The innovative elements of Punk were:
* ‘you can do it too’ - create your own band, fanzine, record-label, live-club, etc.
* for the first time women in a subcultural movement had same rights and appropriate place on the stage.
* it opened the door to the music-business for a lot of new (wave) bands - not only in the UK
